My enthusiasm for boating began as a child during excursions on Sandusky Bay, Ohio. With my parents on their 16’ Starcraft, I fell in love with boating and desired more.
As a teen venturing out on Lake Erie, embarking on trips to Put-In-Bay in my 15’ 1955 Lone Star, I knew I wanted to spend my life on the water.
In 1994, I shipped out on a taconite freighter making the run from Duluth, Minnesota to Zug Island Detroit as a deck hand on the Great Lakes 1000-footer, George A. Stinson. Seeing the Great Lakes from this unique vantage point further deepened my love of the Lakes.
I rebuilt my First Outboard for a client in 1997. From that day forward, I have never stopped servicing boats since. Evan while living in Scotland I was surrounded by outboards in my free time.
I soon progressed to warm water tug boat towing operations in Jacksonville, FL and by 1999 I was a salvage diver and captain of tow boats.
Throughout my previous experience, pleasure boats remained a passion. From 2000-2005, I worked as a full-time marine mechanic in Florida where the industry is a year-round passion. During this period, I Received factory training from Mercury, Mercruiser, Yamaha, and Honda. I also earned an electronics engineering degree at this time.
In 2005, my interest expanded to offshore oil exploration where I advanced to Senior Engineer. My role provided for wonderful opportunities living abroad and domestically. For a number of years, I was happy to explore the Gulf of Mexico, Aberdeen, Scotland, and Dead Horse, Alaska.
In early 2016 I published my first book, “The Lingering Darkness”. A Historical fiction novel for lovers of boats and the sea (a link to “The Lingering Darkness” can be found at the bottom of this page.)
By 2017, my love of Great Lakes beckoned again. I moved my family to a waterfront home in Michigan. Using a lifetime of maritime knowledge and engineering skills, I founded Tiny FloatHouse, and in 2018 we Started to offer a Mobile Marine Service with a focus on Underwater Lighting Systems I continue to share my love of the water with other water enthusiasts through my work in the Blue Water area of Michigan and South Florida!
